AVID at Trexler
What is AVID?
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an in-school academic support program designed to prepare students for college preparatory classes in high school. Both Trexler and Richlands High School have AVID programs.
Trexler Is A National AVID Demonstration School!
Advancement Via Individual Determination is an elective class offered to 6, 7, and 8th grade classes. It is a program for students who have a desire to succeed and have an interest in going to college. Students go through an application and interview process to be selected for this program. During the year, students learn study skills, time management, reading and writing strategies, in addition to inquiry and collaboration strategies. Students also enjoy trips to various colleges and universities.
